LX Design Experience
In my roles as an Assistive Technology Specialist and SLP, I take great satisfaction in supporting stakeholders through training, coaching, and mentoring. Let me share a glimpse of my most recent contributions in Learning Experience Design within K-12 education. Verbal and written feedback (surveys) indicate that attendees felt more competent and knowledgeable in the targeted areas and that the learning objectives were met as a result of these experiences.
June 2024
I developed a learning experience for Parents of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users in Chula Vista Elementary School District. This training offered valuable resources and support to parents. The ultimate goal is to enhance parental involvement and provide effective strategies to optimize their childrens' progress in communication, social interactions, and academic skills.

March 2024
In collaboration with fellow Speech-Language Pathologists who specialize in AAC, I co-designed and facilitated Professional Development sessions for Speech-Language Pathologists and Instructional Assistants in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Our primary focus during this session was on AAC evaluation and implementation. Our feedback survey indicated that the majority of attendees felt more competent and ready to implement AAC as a result of the training.
February 2024
In partnership with a team of Speech-Language Pathologists and AAC Specialists, I co-created and delivered a Professional Development Session tailored for Special Education Teachers. Our focus was on Functional Communication and the implementation of low, mid, and high-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies.
During this session, we explored practical approaches to enhance communication for students with diverse needs. We delved into the spectrum of AAC options, from simple picture-based systems to sophisticated digital devices. Our goal was to empower educators with the tools and knowledge necessary to support every learner effectively.
